A Prisoner of Birth
Danny Cartwright, a working-class young man, is framed for the murder of his best friend on the night of the engagement. Four young elite lawyers become false witnesses that result in Danny being sentenced to life in prison. Behind bars, Danny meets Nicholas Moncrieff, a nobleman who later dies tragically. Through a series of events, Danny assumes Nicholas's identity and is determined to prove his innocence. The novel portrays a man's struggle against legal injustice, social class differences, as well as his quest for revenge and justice. With a storytelling style full of intrigue and surprises, Jeffrey Archer brings a story inspired by The Count of Monte Cristo into the modern English context. 823 ARC a
